Tom Moran is a writer, teacher, and engineer. He graduated from California State Polytechnic University, received a masters degree in mechanical engineering from California State University Long Beach and did additional graduate study at the University of Southern California. He worked for Cal Tech at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Xerox Electro Optical Systems, Rockwell's North American Aviation, McDonnell Douglas Aviation and G&H Technology. He taught writing in evening classes at Los Angeles Harbor College from 1989 to 1995 and Cal State University Dominquez Hills from 1990 to 1995. In 1995 he began teaching full-time at Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York and retired as professor emeritus from the Center for Multidisciplinary Studies (Now the School of Individualized Study) in 2015. He currently lives and writes on Florida's east coast with his wife, the artist Marilyn Groch.
